Virginpocker.com Promotions

Virgin Poker has several promotions currently running, and these are important to any poker site attempting to make a name for itself. I feel that sites are increasingly trying to outdo each other with their promotional offers, and this can put pressure on sites to keep developing new ideas. Virgin Poker has come up with some ideas that although not entirely new, create a good promotional package for it’s customers.

Firstly, I should point out the daily, 35 Euro freeroll which is on offer. Although this is not the largest freeroll prizepool you are likely to find, it is enough to give their players a chance of getting their hands on some real money for free, on a daily basis.

Another interesting offer, is their final table returns offer. This is basically Virgin Pokers pledge to buy a player into a live event for a second year if they win a seat through one of their satellites, and go on to make the final table of the live event.

Although the chances of you winning such a package for a major live event and going on to make the final table is rare, it is still a good offer. Jackpot SitnGo’s are also available at Virgin Poker, giving players the chance to win 10,000 Euros.

Also running is a ‘beat the bubble’ promotion, this means that if you finish on the bubble placing in a guaranteed tournament, Virgin Poker will give you your buy in back.

As well as these, Virign poker has refer a friend bonuses in operation and a 100% cash match for first time deposits up to 100 Euros. Overall there is a reasonably good number of promotional offers going on right now, at Virgin Poker.

pacificpoker.com

I must say that www.pacificpocker.com has an excellent section on it’s home page relating to how to download and register, and then start playing on it’s site, and in many ways I expected this.

It is quite common for poker sites which are branches of a bigger operation run by a betting company to perhaps not receive absolute attention and not become amongst the finest sites to play on. More recently though I have to confess that I am seeing this less often.

Pacific poker is a prime example of these type of poker sites being run in a very professinal way, and with a manner that shows real attention to detail. The example I gave to begin with about the guide to getting started on their site is just an example of course, but it is all symptomatic of the same thing.

I personally feel that with so many other companies pouring all their efforts into solely creating top standard poker rooms, perhaps the larger betting companies have thought ‘we need to make our poker rooms first class to compete’.

If that was the case then they are right, and I am pleased to see improvements being made in many aspects of online poker, and that is industry wide, not just in the case of Pacific Poker. Their sponsorship of Shane Warne has I am sure, helped them too.

He is a well known character and sporting figure, and that fact that he had great success in the WSOP is excellent for 888.com’s Pacific Poker. This is a very good site overall I feel, and it will probably only get better as long as they continue to work hard at furthering themselves.

celebpoker.com

I think in terms of bonuses, I should firstly point out what is probably Celeb Pokers area of excellence, a 200% cash match for first time deposits.

I don’t recall seeing a better offer than this on first time deposits anywhere. This in itself is a fabulous offer and should help get the players through the door, but there are certainly other good bonuses to keep them there. Celeb Poker also has it’s own rakeback site on which participants can register to claim a very healthy 30% of rakeback. Also on offer is a reload bonus of 100% up to 250 Euros.

These bonuses at Celeb Poker seem to be improving all the time and should really help to put the site up there with the better sites around. They have other very good features too such as help and support and graphically the site looks nice. All these things add up and contribute to a site being either successful, or unsuccessful, and I definitely feel that Celeb Poker looks better each time I check the site out.

The affiliation Celeb Poker has with Moneybookers.com means they can offer good V.I.P and instant cash bonuses. Added to all this is a refer a friend bonus of ‘up to 500 Euros’ for each friend. Although this sounds very good, this bonus payment is basically dependent on the amount of raked hands your referred player participates in during their first month of play.

Personally I don’t feel that is ideal, but overall though I have to say that most of the bonuses on Celeb Poker look very good and should certainly keep the new players coming in, and the current ones happy.

coral pocker - Different styles of poker ie texas holdem

Different types of poker have always been played in different parts of the world. Time also causes favoured games to go out of fashion, and other games to become more widely played. Currently, it is Texas Holdem which has taken the poker world by storm, and it is by far the most played and most popular game today.

The emergence of online poker has meant that what becomes popular in one part of the world is likely to become popular in others too, but there are still places I would think, that play other variants more often. Seven Card Stud used to be very popular and still is in some places, and also Omaha has crept up in popularity recently, with the Pot Limit hi/lo version proving particularly popular.

In earlier years gone by, Five Card Draw was the most favoured game and one of the earliest variants of the poker games we know today. It was brought over to America from Europe and is still played to some degree online and in casinos.

All different poker variants require a different approach to succeed of course, and different styles of play can also be adapted due to the type of players you find yourself seated with. There are always going to be players who are talented and know the best way to play each hand, and will play each one as the textbooks say you should. But I feel it is counter productive to play this way every time because you will then end up becoming predictable.

Whichever game or style of play is your favoured one, always try and mix things up a little bit. Personally I feel it is important to be trying different games and strategies often to become difficult to read, and to learn new skills.
