celeb pocker - Choosing your Target

celebpocker - In most instances, we do not get to choose our opponents in a hand, as this is determined by the cards we are dealt, but we can be prepared for coming up against certain players on our table. It is important I feel, to mentally single out particular players weaknesses by studying them as they play their hands.

By doing this, we are essentially choosing the targets at the table that we think will call us down if we have a good hand, or indeed fold if we bluff them, more often than not. By doing this, we are laying the foundations of what decisions we will make if we do end up involved in a big pot with a particular player. Having those guidelines in your mind, will help immensely when the time comes.

There are other factors too which can be important in deciding which players to take on with your hands, and how to play them, such as the chipstacks both you, and your prospective opponent have. If for instance you have 45% of the chips in play, another player also has 45% and another has 10% of the chips in play, you want the shorter stack to go out of the tournament, and so you should be less inclined to take on the bigger stack unless you get dealt a strong hand.

As I said at the start though, we cannot forsee the hands we will be dealt and often, these will determine which pocker players we end up contesting a big pot with.

www.coralpocker.com - Preparation in Poker

coral pocker - When it comes to pocker, there are always two tpes of preparation I feel, both short term i.e in the preceding hours of a tournament, and long term. With long term preparation, there are players at the WSOP each year who spend weeks or months being physically active, presumably with the philosophy that a healthy body makes for a healthy mind, and I feel there is some truth in this. Not so long ago, I spent time going for a run early in the mornings and I found that it really helped to get me thinking clearly about things.

Other long term preparations you might find useful, are reading books n poker which I feel helped me a great deal with my play, and also playing the game regularly of course, helps to keep your mind sharp and in tune with the game.

Short term preparations, can be simple things such as listening to music in order to help yourself go into the game relaxed, watching video of pros online pulling off brilliant plays, or even just having a coffee and playing for ten minutes online.

Whatever your personal preparations for a big game of poker, it is important that they help you enter the game with your radar switched on, and in a relaxed and happy frame of mind. Although some people may not attach too much importance to this, I feel it is imperitive to starting a tournament off on the front foot.
